Power Outage and Restoration Time: January 5, 2025, from 6:12 PM to January 8, 2025, at 7:03 PM
Affected Area: First High Voltage Station (Humanities and Social Sciences College, Life Sciences Building 1, Life Sciences Building 2, and Biotechnology Building)
Reason for Power Outage:
1. The D Circuit of our school's first high voltage station experienced an unexpected outage due to unknown reasons, leading to a power cut in the supply area of the first high voltage station. After emergency repairs on January 5 at 6:49 PM, all circuits except for the D Circuit buildings (Note 1) were immediately restored.
2. Further emergency repairs on the D Circuit revealed that the insulation of the cable from the Humanities and Social Sciences College substation to Life Sciences Building 2 had deteriorated. After isolation on January 6 at 2:35 AM, power was restored to buildings between the electrician room of the D Circuit and the Humanities and Social Sciences College. The affected buildings included Life Sciences Building 1, Life Sciences Building 2, and Biotechnology Building; repairs on the damaged intermediate joint between Humanities and Social Sciences College and Life Sciences Building 2 were completed around January 7 at 5 PM.
3. On January 7 at approximately 5:30 PM, the first high voltage station experienced another outage due to a ground fault caused by overcurrent in the main switch, resulting in a power cut in the supply area of the ABCD circuit. After emergency repairs on January 6 at 6:47 PM, all circuits except for the D Circuit buildings were immediately restored. Following testing, a cable fault was detected between the Engineering Building and Humanities and Social Sciences College (which had already been isolated). To shorten repair time, power was redirected from the Biomedical Engineering and Environmental Science Building substation via E Circuit to supply Biotechnology Building, Life Sciences Building 1, and Life Sciences Building 2 around January 8 at approximately 6:15 PM.
4. All affected buildings were restored by January 8 at 7:03 PM.
Note: Buildings on the D Circuit include: Electrician Room, Snack Restaurant (including Student Office by Chenggong Lake), Ming Ping Shan Hall, Ya Hall, Hui Hall, Jing Hall, Wen Hall, Security Station, Engineering Building, Humanities and Social Sciences College, Life Sciences Building 2, Life Sciences Building 1, and Biotechnology Building.
