Emergency Power Outage Repair Schedule Notification for the First High Voltage Station (D Circuit)

Power Outage and Restoration Time: January 5, 2025, from 6:12 PM to January 6, 2025, at 11:00 PM or January 9, 2025, at 11:00 PM
Affected Area: First High Voltage Station (Life Sciences Building 1, Life Sciences Building 2, and Biotechnology Building)
Reason for Power Outage:
1. The D Circuit of our school's first high voltage station experienced an unexpected outage due to unknown reasons, resulting in a power cut in the supply area of the first high voltage station. After emergency repairs at 6:49 PM on January 5, all circuits except for the D Circuit buildings (Note 1) were immediately restored.
2. Further emergency repairs on the D Circuit revealed that the insulation of the cable from the Humanities and Social Sciences College substation to Life Sciences Building 2 had deteriorated. After isolation on January 6 at 2:35 AM, power was restored to buildings between the electrician room of the D Circuit and the Humanities and Social Sciences College. Currently, the affected buildings include Life Sciences Building 1, Life Sciences Building 2, and Biotechnology Building, with estimated repair timelines depending on insulation testing as follows:
• Damage to the intermediate joint between Humanities and Social Sciences College and Life Sciences Building 2: If only the intermediate joint is damaged, materials are being urgently prepared by the vendor, with repairs and power restoration expected to be completed by January 6 at 11:00 PM. During restoration, previously restored buildings will not need to be powered down again.
• Damage to both the intermediate joint and wiring: After replacing the intermediate joint, if insulation testing fails, cable replacement will be necessary. The vendor has been asked to prepare materials in advance, with repairs and power restoration expected by January 9 at 11:00 PM. During restoration, Humanities and Social Sciences College will need to cooperate with a power outage for wiring connections and switching.
3. During the power outage, all departments and dormitories in the affected area (Note 2) must ensure that all computers and experimental equipment are unplugged, and that power to distribution panels and switch boxes is disconnected to maintain electrical safety. This will also help prevent potential damage to equipment when power is restored. If repairs are completed early, power will be restored sooner; we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause your unit.
Note 1: Buildings on the D Circuit include: Engineering Building, Humanities and Social Sciences College, Life Sciences Building 1, Life Sciences Building 2, Biotechnology Building, Student Office by Chenggong Lake, Snack Bar, Ming Hall, Ping Hall, Shan Hall, Jing Hall, Ya Hall, Wen Hall, Hui Hall, and Security Station.
Note 2: Buildings still without power on the D Circuit: Life Sciences Building 1, Life Sciences Building 2, and Biotechnology Building.
Note 3: The second high voltage station E circuit experienced an unexpected outage due to unknown reasons on January 6 at 2:20 AM. After troubleshooting was conducted at approximately 3:20 AM that day, power was successfully restored by around 3:48 AM.
Please ensure that relevant units take necessary precautions.Facilities Management Team
