5/3 Power Outage Notice: Transformer Failure Forensic Appraisal (Nanda Campus)
Affected Locations: All buildings on Nanda Campus (Except for the Physical Education & Health Teaching Building, Continuing Education Building, and Building N).
Scheduled Duration: Sunday, May 3, 2026, 09:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Reason for Outage:
- Incident Investigation: Following the power outage caused by a transformer failure during the Qingming Festival (April 4), a scheduled outage is required to facilitate a field inspection and assessment by an independent, third-party professional appraisal body. This is necessary to determine liability (e.g., equipment quality issues, environmental factors, etc.).
- Mandatory Safety Protocol: Power must be disconnected during the appraisal. All departments and units in the affected areas must unplug all computers and laboratory equipment. Please ensure that power switches on distribution boards and switch boxes are turned off to protect equipment and prevent damage from power surges during restoration.
- Estimated Schedule: The end time stated in this notice is an estimate. Actual restoration time will depend on the progress of the appraisal and site conditions.
- Early Completion: Power will be restored early without further notice.
- Unforeseen Delays: Restoration may be slightly delayed if abnormal items require more in-depth verification.
- Contingency Planning: If your unit has scheduled important meetings, events, or precision instrument operations, please evaluate the impact and prepare a backup plan or consider rescheduling to avoid disruptions caused by adjustments in the appraisal progress.
This procedure is critical for campus electrical safety and the determination of incident liability. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in preparing for this outage.
